Understanding pH and hardness in your tank
« Thread Started on Jan 2, 2009, 10:54am »

Drastic changes in your pH can harm your fish! Please get a pH test kit. Low for 6.0-7.6 or High for 7.4-8.8 range test kit" to see where your water pH is at. Most LFS wil test your water for U so U know which pH kit to get. Also KH & GH test kits. For if your pH is low or high, you need to know what your Hardness is. Research your fish before you buy!! To understand pH and hardness, please check out these site to further explain What to do, what not to do, and how it works. All print out with all the words.

ALSO found this on hardness per gallon

Often asked about hardness in grains per gallon. If you divide ppm by 17.1, the answer is grains per gallon. Example: 60 ppm = 3.5 gpg and 225 ppm = 13.1 gpg
