Ok, so I have had my cichlid tank for about two months now. I had 6 unknown to me cichlids given to me and I had set up a 125gallon tank. Once I felt like the "starter" fish had done their job as to set up the environment I added my cichlids. For about a month all was seeming well. Only one had died which I know is horrible but changing from one tank to another I was pretty proud just one of them past. (very sad cause it was my little blue one I like so....) Then I noticed that my tank had a slow leak!!! So I put took them out and put all 4 cichlids and 2 pelcos in a 25 gallon tank. I re-siliconed my 125 tank and waited the required time before I put water back in it. I filled that tank back up got the temp at 76 and tested the water. Everything was checking out perfect so I put all my fish back in. This was yesterday. Today two of my bigger fish have died... now I have two cichlids and two pelcos. I am feeling very horrible and now the two I have are swimming at the top of the tank getting air. I did have a air stone in the tank but realized it wasn't working tonight. I don't have another stone to use but I do have that typical Submarine guy with the treasure chest that blows bubbles. I am super worried about the two I have left and need to know why I am killing these fish when all seems to be checking out correct. Now I dont see any ich like stuff on them. They were fine last night as I was watching them swim around. Infact my big white one was swimming around just great last night I even thought it was"shimmering" I stop by the house today at 4:00 and leave for a meeting come back at 8:00 and its laying on the bottom not breathing. If you could help me please. I have never had a cichlids s tank before and if I am doing something wrong I would love to know what it is. Thank you so much in advance.
