Archocentrus sp. 'cutteri' They are from: Guatemala, Honduras, Belize.. I have had these mild mannered cichlids since 2009. they are just awesome to watch and are cousins to the convict. Cousins meaning some where in their LONG ago past , another species come and spawned with the convicts to make the cutteri. My theory anyway.. Great parents as I have some now sectioned off in the 125 gal. I placed them all in one month ago. I just did a big water change and as most fish just LOVE fresh warm water, 80F (26.7c) right now, they are spawning right and left.. Most wil not survive to free swim, but I can not keep 500+ fry right now.. So the first spawn as they were at the tanks side, are going to survive.. So as I just got this tank back from my son, I placed all the Cutteri in it. So nice to sit and watch them. I need more rocks and wood, real wood makes a mess so more fake would be nice. I wil change it as I come across some more in the stuffed garage later!! loluck.. The castle was the home of the big male for many years, but he moved off when I redid the tank yesterday.. XMAS!! (lets U know what I was doing then) . He is pouting under the larger wood stump on the right. Other have take over the inside of the castle which is now on a large rock. Here they are happier?? now, not sure. still fighting, spawning and chasing.. click on Attachment for bigger view. BACK BUTTON back to this page..
