I wanted to add in goldfish NOT really because I have some in a small pond, but they deserve some board space too..
I now most ppl started out with that small goldfish, you were told a small bowl could house them safely with NO filters or heater, they do like it cooler, or a air pump..
Well we all know now that that is not the case. Most died within days as they dont' tell you to change the water every other day OR to dechloinate the water before you add them to the bowl.. Gosh! AS I have had these for a while, I have appreciated the beauty of them more.. Especially in winter as they go to a 55 gal tank..
I have to admit that we were DUMB to think any fish in a confined place can live in its waste for any length of time with out some thing bad happening.. With filters now and more information on keeping goldfish in larger bowls to now a Aquarium, we all have keep them longer and had great joy of watching them, now in many colors and species.. IF I could, I would have a 75 gal with them as they are just gracefull to watch..
Now to have a successfull pond, I have to use a bio filter with a UV light for my pond out side.. I also have to every month to every other, change and clean the pond out.. YES, even the pond!! The filter also can be flushed out but I dont' have to tear it down, it compresses with just a turn of the nobe.. I do need to add in a drain hose to the flower bed thou, but not hard to do at all. My cannas love it and grow big 6' or more..
In the winter time I bring them in to a 55 gal tank.. My small pond is not adaquat to house them for the long cold winter here in Oklahoma..
OK I dont' want them in 38F come Dec to Jan.. Burrrrr...
SO any way, I wanted to do this board and if you have or HAD goldfish, then you can tell your stories and share your pics too!! I wil be listing GOLDFISH forums HERE too..
SO please make your OWN NEW TOPIC to share your experiences with the beauty of the Goldfish!!
