I've heard that Mollies and Platys can interbred is this true?
Also someone at Petsmart stated that Platys and Mollies don't mix well. True or False.
I'm interest in getting some Mollies. I spotted some Long Finned Mollies. I loved their long flowing fins. I craving a Dalmatian one. HA HA

Ihave never heard of them inbreeding but if U do not have the right male female ratio per species, it can happen..
I have some a kenyi females that spawned with a Ps zebra!! man what a deal that is!! BUT I have NO male kenyi in the tank, so she spawned with what was in the tank..
Regardless of NO male, they still need to either lay the eggs or spawn and hold.. so they wil spawn with what ever male is in the tank..
I hope to get them gone this weekend, I have 2 kenyi females..
I am not sure on having mixed ones in the same tank.. IF U do not want any hybrids to some being killed, then best to do only Males or one species with several females to keep him happy..
Dalmations mollies are neat, the long fined ones are just super nice!! I liked the mickey mouse ones!!
Not sure what to tell U here on mixing them.. trial and error I am sure.. Most species like to hang out with their own kind, neons are like that if U get enought of them 8 to 10 are neat to watch school together..

That is a micky mouse platty!! neat to see the face of mickey by his tail.. That is what they call them here anyway! I had a chance to get some, but I did not have a tank for them! O, well. these were more redish in color..
so U are keeping this tank but going for another for brackish later on.. Sounds like a great plan!! ;D

U did not cycle the tank so now U are having high nitrates?? or NITRITES? IF it is nitrates, then the tank is getting cycled good.. high Nitrates do not hurt the fish unless they are really high, 80ppm and up.. WATER CHANGES are the best way to keep them down! U can do 20% of your tanks gal every other day to keep them down and NOT mess with the bio cycle..
37gal U said?? not sure here but if wrong, then change it:
37x.20= 7.4 gal or do 8 gal and call that good.. more is better than less..
Do not feed them to much!! U know fish are beggers and U are always temped to feed them when U are looking at the tank.. I am the same!! Ah a little bit wont' hurt!! IN a cyclling tank, YES it does!!
have a good one and stay on top of the tanks cycle!! Barb..

Tank is doing good now. Had water tested yesterday.
Now I have the honor of having snail eggs in my tank.
I am going to keep them because I want to turn the tank into a puffer tank. Eyeing up a leopard puffer.
